London

For a London calendar see Arlene Toth's London tango pages : http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=arlenetoth%40yahoo.co.uk&ctz=Europe/London

For a London clubs listing see the El Once (The Crypt) website : http://www.elonce.dircon.co.uk/html/uk_listings.html    (other parts of the UK also)

Dancing in London can vary widely in quality. However,  if you fancy trying it out one weekend, the easiest places to get to from Kent are :

Friday   Conway Hall (Carablanca)   http://www.carablanca.co.uk/

Negracha Tango Club
http://www.negrachatangoclub.com/

Both are in the Holborn area and can be combined into one trip (Carablanca's 8-12pm : Negracha 9-3am)

Saturday       The Crypt, Clerkenwell         http://www.elonce.dircon.co.uk/html/crypt.html

Also the following afternoon tea dances are possible :

Saturday      Tango Tea @ The Tango Club, Covent Garden

Sunday         La Mariposa , Clapham

See Arlene´s pages or the relevant website for timings (most clubs have classes before the social dancing).

Regions

A useful calendar : www.tangocentral.co.uk

In my view the best dancing takes place not in London but outside. The following places have weekend events that are well worth going to :

Eton/Windsor    Easter/Yule tango/tea dances        http://www.thamesvalleytango.co.uk/

New Forest        The Tango "tangks"      www.tangouk.co.uk     (various levels see bottom of home page for explanation)

Devon                  The Tango Feasts      www.vidadetango.co.uk

                             Tango Mangos
www.tangoindevon.co.uk

Cambridge         "Four Season" all-nighters      www.cambridgetango.com

Of these Devon probably has the highest quality dancing, but is (obviously!) the furthest to get to.  Next best are the Tango Tangks and the Eton tea dances.

 Blogs

Too many to list, but you can find active tango bloggers via the following blogrolls (blogger lists) :

An honourable mention also to Mari's blog, which doesn't usually appear above:

Abroad

Argentina

If you´re thinking of going to Argentina for less than a month, it is often better to go on an escorted tour.  That way you save time on organization and have a nice bunch of people to go to milongas with.  Some people who we can recommend are :

Korey and Mila                  http://www.ko-arts.com/BsAs.htm

Fernando and Tara           http://www.vidadetango.co.uk/tangoholiday/tangoholiday.htm

Jocelyne                           (not every year) : contact via website

Europe

There are a whole bunch of festivals in Europe.  Holland and Germany have particularly strong reputations for dancing.  El Corte in Nijmegen , for instance,  is considered a Mecca by many dancers in Europe (www.elcorte.com). Berlin also has a very large tango scene.
